Not ignorant at all, I found the time the engine gets the hottest is when motorway riding (high revs), and found the temp was over 100 degC.
Hence the reason for fitting it.
As to fitting it above the exhaust, that was the only place I found room that was protected when off road.
Think I cracked a rib off-roading in Kent today after spilling, loosing two indicators and breaking a clutch lever (still just about usable, but will buy the cheap fold up ones, off eBay which others have used).
Also seem to have twisted the front forks as well (anyone else had this issue?).
So no one send me any jokes! LoL
