Bike had been acting up intermittently for a while. It was cutting out in traffic, headlights pulsing as I was driving, not starting and/or lights on dash not coming on when I tried to start it.

Had a look and the battery had no nuts on the bolts that go on the terminals, but they seemed solid enough in there so convinced it was something else.

Well last week I went and got myself new battery bolts and nuts, threw them on and while I was at it topped up the oil and took out the plug and gave it a quick clean.

straight away the bike started/ran waaaay better, even got rid of some of the "surging"(obviously was the bike cutting out from the **** connection on the battery) and I got to 350kms before the f-trip came on.
