if you have NOT removed the actual switch/housing at all then the issue is not due to any distance issue. Basically i think whats being said is that if you have removed it and not put it back in its original place then in theory the cables can become tight on a certain lock...slacken the housing screws and allow it to rotate/find its own natural place that the throttle snaps shut.

TBH I think it down to a combination of no lubrication on the cables and friction in the throttle housing itself.

if you do take the housing off use some tape to mark the original position etc..maybe take pictures as well..
