I think it all depends on which bar guards you buy because where they sit is pretty much dictated by the inner mounting bracket and how it meets up against the bar's cross-member brace mountings.

I also think you don't necessarily need weights with bar guards but the absence of a weight may induce bar vibration as the Yamaha weights are deliberately heavy to damp down these vibes.

I also found the garish, Chinese guards I bought, (which have the solid alloy bar in them) sort of left next to no room for the levers when in their rest position and would require an extra long M8 fastener to reach through the guard and the OE weight at the same time. I ended up faffing with equally garish smaller weights on the inside. I've now have shorter levers and spacing is a bit tidier but I definitely noticed bar-buzz without weights.



Thanks for the quick reply.. I have the same levers. Unfortunatly im restricted to online shopping as Derby has lost all of its indy bike shops. Going to have to wait till i can get to a bike show to actually see what im buying.
