Heya all. Got the clutch problem fixed. One steel plate was damaged and changed 3 plates for 1(typical problem)
Just wanted to let you know how 690 is compared to XT660. Also my plans with it.
So lets begin:
*KTM is very light compared to Ten, also lower so I could put my feet down.
*Nimble and forgiving when you make mistake(lighter+weight is down lower compared to top heavy tenere)
*Better suspension offroad
*Very fun and fast offroad. Id guess the Teneres average speed(twisty trails like in videos) was around 30km/h and KTM can ride much faster around 50km/h average(not 100% true average speed but thats according to what I saw most of the time at speedo).
*Powerrrrrr
However cons compared to Tenere:
*Fuel range is 200kms and must refuel often
*Standing on pegs and riding is more exhausting than with tenere where everything were perfect for riding offroad when standing.
*Suspension is harsh on tarmac! Even when offroad and I even didn't put to sport settings.
*XT660 got better bottom end pull. KTM starts to live at 4000rpms.
*Headlight is crap
*Wind protection is bad but not that exhausting for 200kms straight
*Exhaust noise(SC project exhaust) is way too loud, miss the Ten's Akrapovice's.
*Reliabilty
Theres something more for sure for cons and pros but can't think anymore at the moment.
And what are the plans with that 6000€ machine: Sell it!
Because theres no point to use that expensive machine for forest riding only. I will get for example a 2007 KTM 250 EXC 2 stroke for 2900€ and thats much better and cheaper option for forest riding.
I will get a second bike for gravel and longer distance riding and I saw that XT660R prices are getting very low. 2x XT660r are for sale right now for 2600€. Some more for 2900€ and one over 3000€. So I could get two bikes for one KTM price however I need new car and must push the other bike idea to next year. Hopefully I will have enough money by then to buy XT660R or maybe TDM900(bad and too expensive tire choices for dual sport riding). XT660x is appealing also but the tire choices for gravel riding is bad as TDMs.
I liked the Xt660 engine and it got pretty good pull.
Perect combo would be: Tenere+something like 2T 250 if you had the money.
But first I must sell KTM, get new car+2T bike and try to put aside as much money as possible for future gravel road adventurer. Id say that XT660R would be nice for that.
