No, it's an absorbed glass matt (AGM) battery. They do not require special charging as such (although the float charge is supposed to be ever so slightly lower). The only thing that you mustn't do with AGM is use the disulphate mode on something like an Optimate as it'll ruin them.
Personally, I can't really justify the cost of a lithium battery. The weight saving is pretty much of an irrelevance with respect to the Tenere, and if you use your bike through the winter and in cold weather they aren't really the best option. They also don't give you much (if any warning) they're running low, getting discharged or tired; they work fine one minute and are dead the next (just think how your phone behaves particularly as the battery ages), which isn't ideal if you travel long distances, camp and charge devices etc. They're much more suited to light weight sporty bikes that travel short distances and get used predominantly in the summer IMHO.
