Yes the same here with the snorkel off. And yes i think the engine just loves the extra air it gets from free flowing filters... (and the GRUUUUNNNNT sound)

The best thing is to try different settings on the knob to optimize your particular machine ... My bikes difference was like night and day / on gravel in the Woods and around the city at various speeds.
