Youll get a thousand and one different personal opinions (all valid and useful) on helmet choices in a thread like this and, TBH, itll probably making arriving at a decision even more difficult!
Your best bet is to get to either a bike shop that has a wide range of makes/models and different sizes in stock, or get to one of the larger bike shows and try some on first. Speaking from bitter experience, choosing a helmet based on its looks, style and recommendations can lead to disappointment as certain brands tend to fit different shape heads. A good while back I set my heart on an Arai Tour (Mk 1) and bought one, lovely helmet but didnt work for me as it was uncomfortable and didnt fit my head shape. Tried other Arais and they were/are all the same. Turns out I have a Shoei shaped head - been a Shoei man ever since! I currently use a Hornet DS as my regular lid.
Work out what fits and what doesnt first, then draw up a shortlist after that. Then take into account reviews, recommendations and what floats your boat in order to arrive at a final decision. Itll save you time, money and avoid the distress of getting your heart set on a particular helmet and then finding it doesnt fit!
Also bear in mind one mans quiet helmet can be another mans noisy nightmare! Much is dependent on height, body shape, riding position, screen size etc. People said Arai Tours were noisy at the time I had one, but personally I never had a problem, which just goes to show widely we all differ.
