Had an r for 3yrs and a bit years and 40k miles of commuting, scratching, touring, off roading, TLC and abuse and it still came back for more!!

Engines are basic and that's good as they need simple maintenance, easy servicing and you don't need a computer to change the oil!!!

Mpg is really up to how and the way you ride. best I got was 68mpg which was a full tank, 65mph, flat roads, and I did 100miles without changing or stopping. Worst was about 50mpg and that was on back roads where I was ehhh spirited riding with a friend with no baffles!!! average 55-60mpg
