Different air cleaners on new Tenere's

I'm ashamed to say that I've got two Tenere's, one in South Africa and one in Australia.
The blue one I got in January in SA is a 2014 model with 2600km. It has Scorpion pipes and came stock from Yamaha with a DNA stage 2 filter and cover. The bike is very quick and a pleasure to ride. It would pull strong from under 2000rpm right through to redline. To wheelie it in first gear is easy, one just has to open the throttle fast.

Now the grey bike in Aus (also 2014 model) which I got on a promotion by Yamaha Australia (I'm moving over there next year) came with a single Barret pipe and some upgrades to the tune of about AU$2900, which includes the suspension. All part of the promotion.
When I was over there last month I received the grey bike and ran it in. What disappointed me was that the bike came with the "old" air filter and snorkel. It had no power under 3000rpm and felt like a slug compared to the blue one with the "open" air cleaner.

I thought Yamaha had changed the stock filters to the DNA stage 2 on the newer models ? Why would they still fit the snorkel filter in Aus ? Don't all new tenere's come with DNA stage 2 filters or is it up to the agents in the different countries ?

Anyone with a new model bike like to comment ?
