Hi Scot. Pleased you like the Tenere, they are a great all round bike.
I had an MTC single sided silencer on my Ten and it also was too loud. Despite contacting MTC
and going over to the factory they could not quieten it down without stifling the performance. I would even say that the fuel consumption goes down !
I have now put the standard silencer back on. I also have the DNA air filter and Kev mod which in my own opinion are the best performance mods you can do. My engine will pull hard in 2nd , 3rd and fourth gears and still sounds good. Lets put it this way, I've just trashed a brand new Michelin Sahara in 3K miles.
If you can get the bike at a deal then go for it and just get the exhaust system off, there are plenty around second hand now.
