Can you get hold of a multimeter? If so put it across the battery terminals with the engine running and check the charge voltage should be 13.5-14.2v. Make sure you Rev the engine while doing the check as it might be fine while idling but when you Rev you might go higher. Really sounds like the regulator isn't regulating and your blowing bulbs from over voltage.
