[QUOTE=sweller;204927]I recently bought one of these from eBay:
....
To actually set it up took a bit of effort but here are my successful steps:
*ZC#000000#07123456789#07987654321#
To bind a mobile handset to unit:
*ZC#unitpassword#mobilehandsetnumber#unitmobilenum ber#
*APN#000000#giffgaff.com#####
Set up data connection on unit
*APM#unitpassword#APNname#user#pwd#
the user and pwd can be left blank as I did
*IP#000000#193.193.165.166#20490##
Set up IP address to send data to (Orange Trace GPS)
*IP#unitpassword#IPadr#portnumber##
The default unit password is 000000 - NOTE: some commands are preceeded by an asterix *
It responds to commands by text and replies correctly - these are the commands I've used:
GOOGLE
Sends text with a Google map reference
VER
Sends text showing unit firmware version
CX
Sends text showing unit settings
XTxx
Sets update interval in seconds when moving
NXTxx
Sets update interval in seconds when stationary
*MVALMON#password#
Turn on movement alarm
*MVALMOFF#password#
Turn off movement alarm
I told the website to think the unit was a
GoSafe 911
The web side of things was fairly straightforward once I got the APN details into the unit so the data connection worked.
The other consideration is data usage. I have it set to report its location evry 15 seconds whilst moving and 80 seconds stationary. I think each report is 300 bytes. So based on 10 hours moving and 14 hours stationary (very generous on movement) works out at less than 1MB per day.
Can you expand upon the entries you've mentioned, were they into Orange or to the unit?
I am up on Orange GPS and can't seem to make it see the GPS device and can't find somewhere in orange GPS to enter the LAC code for its location when GPS fails and GSM is fine
_ really confused
