Nothing wrong with decisiveness! Welcome aboard; I'm sure you'll enjoy the new bike. The Tenere is a cracking bike and I'm getting the impression that it's the most popular version of the XT on this forum.
I gave up bikes in my 20s when I got serious with my then girlfriend, now wife. It was entirely my decision, driven by cost and practicality. However, I lusted after bikes so much that it hurt and many years later, when the kids were more independent, I finally got back in the saddle. Thankfully, my wife encouraged it although she has no interest at all and will never ride pillion.
