You can pull the two parts of the caliper apart easy enough. Then in time honoured tradition, with a bit of elbow grease and time, the slider pins can be cleaned up and made perfectly serviceable again.

The main issue is that the protective rubber boots from both pins are not available from Yamaha as separate parts. But fear not, various BMWs use the same calipers and the boots can be bought separately.

You can even get new piston seal kits as well, which aren't available from Yamaha. In otherwords, the front calipers (and rear for that matter) are serviceable - just not with Yamaha branded parts!
