I'm at about 5000km on my T 130/17 TKC80 and its nearly spent. Interesting as my FIL fitted a 140/17 on his Tiger 800XC at the same time and while following him on my 2000km ride last month it unexplainably deflated. Ripped the tube out and it was rubbed through in sections every 4cm in neat pattern along one side.
Told him to run his hands around, check for protrusions, nails, etc and nothing to report we fitted up the spare tube and refitted. Lasted about 500m...
Got the rest of the ride crew to change the next one as they said we must have pinched the tube fitting. They change it and it lasts 500m again and flat!!!
De mount the tyre completely from rim and upon inspection if you fold the bead, the tyre is split in sections 4 cm apart in a nice uniform pattern around the inside of the tyre. The plys cords are protruding once inflated and puncturing the tube each time ( knew I didn't pinch the tube!!).
End of long story new tyre required and everyone in the group (apart from me) chastising Conti TKC80s!!).
For the record day one was 800km, 80/20 mixed road and high speed dirt 100-110km/h 35degc, day two 300km 50/50 high speed dirt and road 32degc, followed by day three 800+Km high speed road (100-120 km/h) in torrential rain the entire trip.
Never once did the TKC let me down or ever let me feel unstable even at high speed in such shocking riding conditions!!
Stoked with the Tenere and tyres and what an awesome ride, pushed limits I didn't want to push but had a blast.
The company was 4 BMW F800 GS, one Tiger 800XC, one BMW1200GS, one KTM 1190 Adv and my little Tenere and it did everything they did with ease, oh and I had to share my fuel with one of the F800s
