Iv'e found just the same (clacked on here and there about it). My advice would be to at least go for the kev mods before worrying too much. there may be some left in your sprocket/cush chain but most of it is directly reduced by sorting out the fueling. Those, rip off the snorkle, block the AIS pipe. Much better at idle and off the throttle.
