Not sure whether there is any significant difference between the twin/single setup on an XT in terms of bhp, or whether anyone's tested both on a dyno?

In very general terms of exhaust physics a single can 2-1-1 system lends itself to improving torque and a twin can 2-1-2 system will lean more towards improved top end power. The differences will be very negligible though on a single cylinder bike - the more cylinders you have the more exhaust tuning becomes critical.

Weight and cost mainly. However a twin can system will almost certainly be quieter due to the extra volume of silencing material, so if quietness is your highest priority then twin is probably the way to go...
