I go to my local bike workshop who fills my empty containers with oil from his HUGE barrel. It's 10/40 semi-synth. �5 a litre but I usually come away with about 25% extra as the measure is at best vague.

It's what he puts in most bikes for a service so if it's good enough for his reputation it's good enough for me. Between me, my wife and two sons we have probably done over 50,000miles on this oil. No problems so far.
