Might be worth changing the fluid, a 2010 bike should have had the brake fluid changed in 2012, you may have air in the lines.
If not changing the fluid (which you'll do anyway with new brake lines), at least bleed them and top up.
New lines do make a small difference, the brakes have a more positive feel to them over the OE setup. But I don't recall the OE setup being particularly spongy
