I'm a likely maybe
as I will be in the area at the time (well, 600k away) and a local mate is a likely maybe - hence my status. He has the plans, I am simply following him
. That means that I have no idea where we will be camping either.
Oddly enough, I just rode through the region today heading north east and there were plenty of adventure bikes around.
James, you could do a lot worse than head due north from Mandello del Lario around Lake Como through Chiavenna and over Spluegen Pass into Switzerland. Amazing bit of road over the pass - not sure of a decent route from Spluegen to Lucern though.
