From what I understand, 2009 onwards has an "improved" ECU. My 2008 rode nicely, without significant issue when I test rode it. Then I changed the exhaust system which pronounced the issue to a state that made the bike less than enjoyable to live with.

However, should you find yourself in this position, there is a help available from the resident guru (Kev) on this forum. My bike is now (again) very enjoyable to ride, with the new exhaust.
