So thats the 2013 BD1K " Dusty Butt 1000" out of the way...
There was only 3 XTRs in it this year "150 bikes "... first time I have used the XTR.. But all in all it didn't go to bad... weight & surspention were it's main draw backs but then Mr Yamaha didn't really have the DB1k in mined when he designed it. I managed to make full use of what surspention it had on one
ford... flat spoted the front rim / blow a fork seal / dented the muffler with the rear caliper & tyre took a peice the rear guard out... yep don't think there was any surspention travel left on the bump..
I droped it in a river crossing & filled the motor with water wouldn't turn over
when I tryed to re-start... had to remove the plug , pump the water out of the cyclinder , check spark.. plug back in , it start first push of the button.
took me as long to un pack/re-pack the bike as I did to get it running again.. next time I will carry the plug spanner where it's easy to get to...
Only got a few pics camrea got dunked it did fair as well as the bike..
roll on 2014 DB1k
these lovely little rock gardens go for 100s of metres across with deep water channels running down them...
Should polish out..???
