I remember there being a bit of rivalry and thought I would be upfront so no-one thought I was a mole. I've tried getting in touch with Mel but I lost all her contact details in a HDD crash, so it would be good to say Hi again.
Mistman, you're right. In the six years I have been back on two wheels I have become a full-time, all-weather rider, and doing more touring on the bike as well. I've had everything from a 1300 Pan to a Sprint in the meantime, but all of them have failed the ultimate test - do I LOVE this bike? I downsized to the mini-GS, and found that a 600/650 was a good size for my needs (always was, but I needed to find that out), but ultimately it didn't hit the spot and I started hankering after another 660R. Well, that or a 660Z, but a 660R came up at the right price, and ... here we are.
I still have the XT600E that I bought as a drudge bike to save a Ducati from a muddy daily commute, and I think I will be buried with that bike. But it's very old and poorly now, and needs a bit of TLC.
