Harder Compound = Less Grip

For winter, you want more grip and a softer compound



Honestly, the TKC's are probably the best tyre for the winter. They are every bit as good as most road tyres, you won't suffer from aquaplaning, they have more grip in the snow, more grip on heavily gritted roads.

Bear in mind that non-winter tyres stop being fully effective when the temp falls below 7c. TKC's are the closest tyre you can get over here to a winter tyre.

Yes, you trade grip for miles.... but can you put a cost on your life ?

Then again, it's your choice, not mine.
