Me too.
I took my spanking new 2008 OE panniers through Europe , carrying everything. And there was nothing else on the market at the time.
What would I buy today...... well I bought Zega Pro's a couple of years ago, and they are superb, but they were 800 when I bought them and I wouldn't pay todays prices. Crash well though !
I have recently bought some of the Oxford soft roll top panniers - great ? no, but good enough for for the pair. Less than half the cost of the Adventure Spec Magadans, but I don't think the Magadans are more than twice the bag, so I think they are good for what I got them for.
The OE cases are great for filtering, still narrow, and not much wider than your legs, they also crash well, and are studier than people give them credit for. But the space is limited - depends on your needs and requirements really.
They are plastic... don't be fooled, it's just a very thin alloy sheet over the plastic, and the locks do need TLC.
