best to stick ameter across the battery while running to check the voltage should be around 14 /14.2 volts .could be a bad earth blowing the fuse .poor connection any where .Was he working at the bike prior to this he may have loosened a connector. Check the voltage across the battery when running the engine first that will tell you right away .check the earth from the battery
