Chris if they the oxford grips i know they are quite solid so you wouldnt be able to lock wire them on to the bars. That and the grips again are that solid that they fit on the bar not too badly so only way is to glue them on. Had a few different ones on my R after grips failing and controllers failing. I used a two part epoxy resin and just removed grip, clean out old glue from inside grip, cleaned down bar, applied a thin coating around bar (its hard to do this so its a guessing game as to how much you need!!!), push grip on bar quickly and get into a possition where cables are in the way of brakes etc. Hold there for about 2-3 mins, leave for about 1-2hrs to set. Tester for me was two min ride and few hard brakes and wheelies ie when you try and twist/pull/push bars the worst. If they slip start over with more glue, if they stick well done go and ride you bike some more.
If you get it right you can twist the grip off with some hot water/grips on full heat then twist off with both hands but its hard work
