I know it's a bit , but I've always made up a sewing kit to take on my travels. Takes up no space and is bloody handy for repairing riding kit from boots to gloves, fixing tent seams, sleeping bags (I know you're not camping) and even in extreme cases a bit of roadside surgical suturing! Been an absolute godsend sometimes.
