I did the same. Gradually added bits and bobs from old tool kits I still had lying around, until I had everything to take the entire bike apart. It now fits partly in the tank recess and partly in a tool tube, together with a pair of mechanics gloves and a pair of jump leads with alligator clamps. Another tool tube holds 3 tire irons, a socket wrench a CO2/hand pump and a piece of cloth to use on the trails for laying out tools, nuts and bolts without having to go dig for them in the grass or the mud.
