I think everyone knows the OE toolkit is useless, in fact the only useful tool is the C-Spanner.
I too have a Kriega tool roll, although it's very very bulky, I have developed a bespoke toolkit just for the Tenere. Lots of modified tools to do specific jobs (even a ground down drift to extract the brake pad pins). It took time but this is how I did it:
Everytime I did any work on the bike, I wrote down what I used and kept a list for a while. Then I put together a toolkit, thought about what I had and what I could modify to do more than one job. Once I had a toolkit I used ONLY that toolkit, if I needed anything else I added it to the toolkit. As a final cover all,,, RAC Card!
I can't fix a broken chain, but I look at a chain break as being something a little more destructive as a simple break,
I can't rebuild the engine/gearbox,
But that's about all
You need surprising little to take the Tenere apart
