Your government's NIDIRECT website says motorcycles only need a VIN stamped in the frame and MSVA compliance plate- the EU standards for motorbikes. It says nothing about the year of manufacture to be spelled out. I used the Yammie site to look up my bike's model year too, as the only thing that indicated the year was a stamp on the exhaust, saying 2010. My bike turned out to be a 2011, like the salesman said it was! In the States, the motorbike manufacturers have to put the model year of the bike and all smog related equipment manufacture dates on a plate, clearly accessible for the bike to become registered at the motor vehicle departments.
