Check the preload setting on the OE shock, the spanner is in the toolkit under the seat. Mine generally lived on setting 5. Then at 10k it was FUBAR and it went away to be replaced by a Nitron item.
I generally lift my foot for down changes, have had no issues with the back brake.
As for the 'bar position I recommend changing to the
Renthal 613-01 bars, but you will need to trim 10-15mm off each end. You shouldn't need to change your cables, and the standard bar inner diameter will mean you can fit the majority of handguards, unlike the OE bars.
