When I used to courier in London in the late 80s I tried everything, including such crazy ideas as putting Elastoplasts on each finger tip, covering each finger in Vasolene and wearing pink Marigolds!! Bigger gloves was a good one, so were old WW2 RAF silk flying glove inners (if you can get them now), but I also found muffs the most succesfull (non-electrical solution).

As for the heated seat covers, they seem almost as ridiculous as these...
