You can fit a top box to any type of rack as long as you know the right end of a drill and know how to use a spanner - theres always a way mate.
You can attach the top box manufacturer's base plate to the rack if you want to shell out a few quid.

i have already seen that one, and 3 0r 4 others too.

but my question is can you get top box plates that you can add or remove from tubular racks when you need to, or do i have to buy one of those racks where the rack itself basically is a top box plate?

it would be useless for carrying anything without the top box attached.

i want a top box for some trips, but then other times i want to detach it and be left with a tubular rack that i can strap things like tents on to.
