in a word yes! tho there has to be enough power to pump the fuel, we did it in portugal when we had to wait on a straggler, again! as someone stopped their engine but not on the key thus leaving the lights on.
i believe if the ignition is turned on and the dash lights up [pump on] but when the starter is applied the dash goes dead, see where i'm heading?
imho it would be better to carry a set of simple jumpleads, i made a set out of 6mm cable 1.5mtrs long, just solder the ends to leave unfrayed connectors, obviously red and black will simplify matters.
this proved very usefull for two ktm 690's, yep the owners had a lot to listen to when the tenere helped them back to life
