Just thought I would give a quick update on my Mefo Explorers.

The riding has been approx 600km road and 200km dirt (all dry). On the road they are great and give a good level of confidence.

On the dirt - this comprised about 75km of extreme 4wd tracks and good dirt roads. On the rocky, steep 4wd tracks they were surprisingly fine. On the good dirt road, I found the rear a little skatey. Nothing scary as I was pushing it but it did surprise me.

On the Oodnadatta track I was doing 100-120km p/hr on D606's and they were solid, just don't know if the Mefo's would do the same.

All in all, they are good 50/50 tyres, but if you are pushing things on the dirt, you can't beat full on knobbies. Tyre wear - negligible at present.

So it's D606's for the off road and Mefo Explorers for 50/50 riding.
