It's worth having a crack at losing that second nut. It'll give you a fair few degrees of movement. Did the same on an old XR and substituted the last nut for a locking nut.

If that fails a couple of cuts and a weld would be a pretty simple fix for the lever.

Off topic again, which bash plate is that. In the market for one and that looks sweet!
