The week before I started to do some work on the Ten. The ToDo list looked like this:
- new set of sprockets and chain
- new rear tire
- new hyperpro rear shock
- inspection and greasing link mechanism bearings
- new licenseplate light + wiring
- hyperpro frontspring and oil
You need to take it half apart to get to the shock:
only to discover 2 out of 4 bearings are gone:
the other two still looked allright:
the collars were worn too:
All have been replaced now.
Removed the ScottOiler: the sprockets lasted longer without the use of the ScottOiler.
Then there was an UFO sighting: an unidentified falling object came out of the silencer:
It looked like strips of metal that 'melted' together in a carbon lump. I suspect we're looking at the remains of what once was the catalist.
While waiting for the bearings I had to take refuge to my sunday ride: the MT-03 ...
... but that went horribly wrong...
1,5 mile from home on my way back... the road had become a floor of ice...
... lost it and slid on my left hand side and then it looked like this:
How slippery it was; on the opposite lane:
...
... there's considerable damage... and with both bikes out of operation I actually had to go by CAR!!!
A real shame: the Ten would have taken the punishment without too many damage: just pick it up and continue beside the road/ice.
Thank goodness I was able to put the Ten together this weekend and I'm riding again!
