Thanks all, Yes, its deffo a minor niggle only. (totally crap though as has been stated) In the end I gave up squashing it into the hole in the tank and put it under the rubber document holder strappy things beneath the seat.
I will make up my own tool kit of course, Never rely on monkey metal spanners and the rest from a bikes own kit.

Frees up the tank "hole" for something else as well
