If he looks at the Touratech one that is the way i think they should all be designed like. Ok it is massive but covers a load of expensive areas like the exhausts, water pump, covers some of the gear and brake lever, the oil drain bolt on the frame and a few other areas.
Also make sure you place a few rubber washers on the plate when you mount it, stops the plate from vibrating and causing a rattling noise.
