I found exactly the same problem as you have. After 20 minutes at around 90kph my hands were numb! However I found the cure with a bit of plastic modification, and some washers from the hardware store and I could keep the TT hand guards, and be rid of the vibes.

In the above thread, I have a few pics brief explanation of what I did to make the original bar end weights (at around 400 grams each!) fit with the TT guards. It seems that Yamaha did put them on for a reason after all .

I understand the Barkbusters are quite meaty???
