It is fine for this sort of riding but better with new tyres fitted with a more open tred pattern. It is heavy and anything more than this sort of riding and you will soon find its limit. I have just recently given my bike a searious diet and shed aprox 30kg. This has improved the bike vastly and given you want to use it on road mostly i think it is a far better bike than than suzuki Dr400. I had a 400dr for some time but found it under powered especialy if you need to carry a pilion.
