They are a good compromise for road and off roading, but it depends on what type of off roading you do if they are any use, they dont really like muddy/wet boggy/slippery stuff, where as they prefer hard standing/gravelly/rocky stuff.
I put a set on and took my XTR off roading for 2 days in wales and these handled a treat, and kept up with my instructor on a husky 250 (ok he wasnt giving it the beans but was surprised i wasnt too far behind) and my dad on a hired DRZ'S with proper off road tyres (ok old man, getting on a bit, but still life in the old dog yet)
