Thanks for all the info and very helpful pics. My kit has arrived and I'll give this a bash over the weekend. I have gone for the rocker switch option.

I fitted foam grips with these things underneath.

The foam doesn't transfer the heat very well and they get lukewarm, not hot (and bear in mind i'm wearing thick gloves too).

No meltdown after being left on for over an hour at a time.

Easy to fit using double sided tape and a squirt of white spirit. Grips go right over the top. Lockwire and hey presto.

I'm not convinced personally and will probably take them off in the summer.
