Fiiting a LeoVince exhaust...

Guys,

Is there any real bennefits (besides the sound and the beauty) in installing a X3 LeoVince pipe in a '06 XT660R ? I'm asking because they are really expensive down here in Brazil (around US$ 1.200, a set) and I would like to evaluate if its worth the investment.
I've already ordered a K&N filter, a Power Command III and will remove the snorkel. My goal is to gain some additional HP and torque and install also a 16 front sprocket, to have a more "confortable" bike in the highways.

Thanks a lot in advance !

Marco

(sorry for the bad english)

If it's HP you are after you need to order a stage 2 DNA Filter as well, these motors need to breath & are restricted by the intake system.

(Quote) DNA stage 2 filter only, standard main filter = 3.1HP. (Best gain in HP & torque for your money.)

Most of the pipes offer around a 2 HP gain, with a big weight saving. So don't just look at the HP gain but also the weight reduction, the HP/weight ratio is better with a after market pipe.

Thanks for the very quick answer Kev.
Do you think that even with the baffle in (FIM option) this pipe will perform better than the stock one ? (considering only the K&N filter and the snorkel removal )

Thanks again !

Yes I do think it will perform better than a standard system.

Will let you know when mine arrive as I have just bought a set (3/2/09) also bought a PC3, DNA stage 2 and K&N Stage 1, now just have snorkel to remove and goodies to fit.:021:
I have a 2006 model XTX on an 07 plate, thoughtI was buying an 07 bike and didn't bother to check:YellowCrazy_J8GDC6:
Maybe then have to book some dyno time, but will start with some maps from here first.

Seems really cheap at 299

moffman 09-02-09 17:09

Does seem cheap but have they have plenty of positive feedback and sell loads of cans and full systems on a daily basis. Check their feedback out.

moffman 10-02-09 16:05

Now have update, my cans arrived today so not bad delivery, I ordered on 3/2/09 at 20:30 and they got here today from Italy so only took 6 days. They are LeoVince X3 road legal cans with removable baffles and carbon fibre hangers. They look really smart and came with fitting instructions and all securely boxed in original packaging. Got to say at 299 including postage they are a bargain. Now just got to wait for my PC3 to arrive and the snow to melt then I can start bolting my bits on. Only rode the bike fo a couple of miles when I bought it but have now bought her Cans, PC3, K&N, DNA stage 2 and a stage 2 filter cover (courtesy of worry bro) Maybe I should have spent more time riding lol but she was a bit quiet when I took her out. These should make her sound a bit better and release a few more horses as well as shedding a few Kilo's.

Whats a PC3?? Sorry new to this bike and its mods

moffman 10-02-09 17:57

Power Commander 3, to alter the fueling on my bike to suit the free'r breathing airbox (DNA Stage 2 & K&N Stage 1 filters) plus aftermarket exhausts. A power commander lets you customize the fuel mix running through the injectors to help improve throttle response and fuel economy and to get the best out of the performance mods I am making to my bike. I am hoping for a few more HP and better midrange with the additions I have made.

Well show some pics and let me know how it performs:bling:

I will have to wait for it to stop snowing before I start to bolt my new goodies on, but here is a pic of 1 of my cans with pipework and 1 hanger, each can has 2.

wide 26-02-09 16:34

Well bit the bullet today an ordered a set of these, lets see how long they take. Bike needs a new tune for the hill sides!!

moffman 26-02-09 17:37

Took mine 6 days from ordering or 4 working days, which I thought was good from Italy, you will not be disappointed they are very well made with lovely carbon fibre hangers. First thing I did was remove the long road legal baffle and relace with the short pipe baffle (you will see what I mean when they arrive). Quieter than with no baffle but not by much, and they keep the legal look. Overall I am well pleased with them.

wide 05-03-09 16:07

Well mine arrived and now fitted. Jesus put the short baffle in, think I will have to go back to longer though, its freakin loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but nice:love3:

moffman 06-03-09 13:04

Looking good on your bike there m8, how do u like them? yes they are quite loud with short baffle but the cage drivers should hear you coming. Try the longer baffle and see what you think. Have you removed the snorkle? Removing the snorkle and getting a DNA stage 2 airbox cover will help it out loads.

These are going on ebay mate.it states 360 quid but in description its actually 299.

Are these leo vince better than the carbon can co cans?

CaptMoto 17-05-09 19:29

Gavin, sorry to butt in on this, you wrote me an email saying you couldn't log into the forum, I went back into the software to check your status and you have no restrictions, and proof is you are posting without problems.

What exactly happened that made you write that email? :101:

Stewpot666 17-05-09 20:51

i seen them on there, but didnt wanna pay an extra 60 quid

Lars XT660X 20-07-09 11:37

Freaking loud!!! Know exactly what you mean...

I just bought a 2004 XT660X with the L3's fitted on. I live quite near a police station and in the middle of a city, for which reason it wouldn't do no harm to reduce the noise a bit.

Is a baffle the same as we call a DB-killer? And where do I insert this thing? I opened the rear end yesterday but did not see any frame to connect it to.

Oh, one more detail... Are these bafflers sold separately?
The bike came without them...
