Hello guys,

Shortly I'm doing a 660 to 700cc conversion. Here's so far what I've done.

1. bought a used XT660 head + cylinder + cam (oem)
2. bored and coated (nicasil+?) the cylinder to 700 ccm; done by http://www.powerseal.nl; they use a special process. See pics IMG_0869.jpg IMG_0870.jpg IMG_0874.jpg
IMG_0875.jpg
3. bought a suitable 103mm JE piston (thanks Kev for the advice!); See pics IMG_0876.jpg IMG_0877.jpg IMG_0878.jpg IMG_0880.jpg IMG_0881.jpg
4. tuned the cylinderhead + paint job (done by http://www.off-the-road.de; see pics before (head already sand blasted) - (IMG_0940.jpg IMG_0944.jpg IMG_0945.jpg IMG_0946.jpg IMG_0947.jpg IMG_0948.jpg IMG_0949.jpg) and after head tune job and coating job (IMG_1198.jpg IMG_1199.jpg IMG_1201.jpg IMG_1202.jpg IMG_1203.jpg).

Next steps:
- coating the cylinder to black
- still waiting for the OTR cam; will arrive shortly.
- remove the engine

Will keep you informed!

Greetings from Holland,

Marcel (marjani)

How many extra horse power will you have at the end in total?

:eusa_shifty:

marjani 10-02-10 20:50

just 68HP and 77Nm torque

Kev 10-02-10 22:25

To get more then that you will need a bigger cam, big valve head, stage 3 air box, higher compression piston ratio & a stroker crank then you will see the late 70hp mark as proven in the Raptors.

There are a few builds on the go at the moment so we hope to get the first XT over 70HP soon.

It sure is real, each stage of my mods have been documented on this forum for everyone to see.

I am looking into a Big Bore project, has anyone in the UK done one?

Initially, I am looking into costs/what I need, and also any feedback. i.e. does the bike vibrate alot more? Any downsides to the conversion?

Kev 22-08-10 09:06

It does not vibrate much more, you can get the crank & piston balanced for around US$150 if you are worried about it.

There are only a hand full of riders in the world that have done a XT660 big bore, so don't expect a big responce. You should have bought my big bore kit that I sold in June, a 102mm Raptor cylinder & XT660 ported head for 250 pounds.

richardsracingmad 22-08-10 09:25

250...don't!! i didn't have the XT then, but would have bought it!

Kev 22-08-10 12:21

There was a dealer selling a head & cylinder for a XT660 on Spain I will see if I can find them again, they wanted 250 pounds for them. They have a used XT660 crank for me, but wanted to much for it so I gave them the flick.

richardsracingmad 22-08-10 12:32

A Standard head/cylinder Kev? Thank you.

Kev, I don't want to lose the lovely "drivability", so would you recommend a 700cc /?

I am just after a small gain through 3000-6000 revs .....I don't want to go too extreme! (gets expensive and more "racy"!)
