the bike has now 64.000km. i have opened the motor with 56.000km to replace the gaskets of the cylinder head and the cylinder base.(i forgot to measure the hole of the cylinder base gasket :-( ). the cylinder just have had a problem with the surface coating.
i have fitted a DNA/K&N filter set and a power commander installed after the replacement of the gaskets we are traveled 7600km in brasil (sao paulo- natal). i have had one day (600km) with very strong rain at the travel. the air filter box was completely filled with water in front of the air filter and the water has mixed with the oil. i have detect it at the end of this 600km travel. now the consumption of the oil is very high (3l/1000km), smokes a little bit. spare parts from yamaha are very expensive in brasil. to replace the cylinder, piston, piston rings and the camshaft bearings will cost >2500US$ i buyed a 102mm piston in germany and now i will open the bore in the cylinder and resleeve or replate the cylinder for a 102mm piston. |
It is cheaper to buy your parts from the States then Germany. I got all my parts for half the price then buying them in Australia.

Good afternoon Kev, all right with you?
You know how the bike went to Marjane after he put the Nicacil? Nicacil know if the piston is good with the 103mm? I install the Raptor Cam in my 66, got a slow irregular, the average high and remained strong, reaching the same maximum speed 172km / h. It was easier to walk the 140km / h. Raptor Cam Besides I also put K & N stage 1 and iridium candle one at a time, much like the result of the sail was only when the bike burst less. I put the Nicacil, I want to know if it lasts many kilometers? A hug. Fred. |

Hopefully that will be mine :-)
I now have the Capt's motor and will stripping as soon as the workshop is up in the back yard. |
Good morning Kev, 108mm = 769cc, the bike will fly! Thinking in 108mm! Does the engine support?
Thanks Kev. |

When I fitted my Raptor cylinder I bored my casings, in doing this it allows me to rebore & plate the Raptor cylinder to 105mm. If you want to go bigger a resleave will be nessary. The XT casing should take an extra 1.5mm machined out of each side to allow the 108mm cylinder, I know this as I measured the casing thickness after boring them, there was 4mm left after machining them for the Raptor cylinder. There is now 110mm pistons for a Raptor. http://www.whiteknuckleracing.com/index1.html http://www.omwracing.com/engines_raptor700r.htm http://www.trinityracing.com/prod_ya...o700_kits.html |
Good afternoon Kev! I am impressed with this information! Good! Here we not have so many features! Thank you for the information. When I speak I have a novelty. A hug! Fred.
