Leovince's SBK exhaust system

Today I finally got the Leovince's. They were fitted by my dealer and fitted very well. It came with all the needed brackets and also db-killers(not as yet fitted, I think I will, because they're LOUD!). Looks and sounds great, and weighs much less(how much, I'll you know as soon as I put the original system on a scale), also bangs when you shut the throttle down, like with the original system, only louder. Look at the piccies. Greetz, Hans.

P.s.: going away for a couple of days, to the Ardennes or Vogezen, let y'all know how it rides, in performance and fuel consumption and such. And if the cops still like me....!

Nice cans mate:bigwink:

Igor_T 15-09-08 21:48

Very nice ! Have fun :-)

Gotan 15-09-08 23:01

Lovely set of pipes, think its about time I started looking.

johnno 16-09-08 14:56

very smart pipes ,love the linking

Andy12 16-09-08 15:40

Is there any mods or other work necessary, or you just put them on the bike?

dallas 16-09-08 16:33

Just put them on, no hassles, runs great! Only: I'll put in the db-killers, because they're LOUD!!! I like the sound, only the neighbours look like they've eaten sh***t! And we don't want that! Greetz, Hans.

stuxtttr 16-09-08 18:45

Sweet looking pipes how much were they ?

cotthem 16-09-08 19:50

Nice pipes

dallas 16-09-08 20:37

The pipes were 555,- euro's, but I got a discount. A lot cheaper then the Akra's!

dallas 20-09-08 10:35

Well, I put in the db-killers today and the sound is still full, but more civilized, the neighbours are also happy again! One flaw: the screws to hold the db-killers were way too short! The bangs, when I shut down the throttle, are still there, but not as prominent as before. So. I'm glad I put them in, it makes me more at ease! Greetz, Hans.

rsvman 21-09-08 18:49

Hi, got my leovince cans with db killers already fitted??? Small screws that come with it are to be fitted when they are removed to block the bolt holes up......

rsvman 21-09-08 18:53

Hi, got my leovince cans for 375 from my mates shop said he will sell them to people for that including p+p to uk mainland only or will find a price out for shipping elsewhere....

Gotan 21-09-08 22:17

Hiya RSVMAN, im interested in a set of pipes, is that price correct, what's the name of your mates shop?, more importantly whats the sound like? particularly in relation to attracting attention from our friends in blue?
Also any noticable difference in performance with the pipes fitted?

rsvman 24-09-08 19:13

Hi Gotan, Yes price is correct, The shop is called darlington motor factors ( 01325 463892) ask for steve goodfellow and tell him stuart told you about them, He is a very good friend but sometimes very busy.....The cans are loudish with the db killers in but seem to be more so when cracking throttle open from rest, seem to make the engine more responsive and a bit more punch mid range. dont think I will get to much bother of the police after all they are street legal.

Timpo 27-09-08 20:00

Do any of you know if these pipes are available in UK yet? And if so, do you have a price?

A dealer address or link would be nice.

Thanks.

Timpo.

Hi Dallas, great pipes. Look forward to your stats on the weight of the stock and/or weight saving between the two. cheers, Joseph

Oh, OK thanks.
I have called Demon Tweeks as they arte Apico agent. Apico I believe are the UK importer of these pipes.....
.....and at 375 I think they are the cheapest alternative to the Akro system. Bargain!

Timpo.

pauli 29-09-08 01:44

Do the SBK pipes come with 2 sets of db killers like the X3's ?

I love the X3's fitted to my XTX and the SBK's look just as good and Leos seem to be very well made. Anyway, if you have both db killer sets try the shorter ones as they are a nice mid point between full sound and legal sound :walk1:

OK RSV, my line of enquiry has flopped as Demon Tweeks are only LV race system dealers via Apico. Apparently LV have their business split in to road, race, off road and scooter sections.
I'll give the Darlington MF route a try, as the 375 inc p&p price is right on my budget. Are they a stock item there or did you need to order?
Thanks for the details.:023:

Timpo.

rsvman 01-10-08 20:12

Hi Timpo, Had to order them in but came in 2 days. Like you say LV are split, my friend does mx gear but pulled a few strings to be able to get the sbk range, by the way the main UK importers only hold 2 sets of these at any one time

Sound Barrier

Hi!
The "bangs" in the exhaust system occurs with the original system as well with the L&V-system. But with L&V it is "The Big Bang"! The exhaust bangs are caused by the AIS so I plugged the system in the little rubber hose between the chromed pipe and the reed valve and voil, no "bangs", i.e. I have passed the Sound Barrier! But I just love the sound of my L&V-system (ok, I reckon my neighbors dont!) I have also removed the snorkel and is waiting for a KN-filter!

Glade to see it works on the XTZ as well.

Just fitted my pair of LeoVincis yesterday.

http://ktim.smugmug.com/photos/484431982_WTEJp-M.jpg

Overall I'm happy with them. They seem to be well made, were well packaged and came with all the parts needed. They were very easy to fit with no adjustments needed. My only surprise was that they did not give as much of a weight saving as I would have expected. The total weight of the LeoVinces with all pipes and brackets, nuts and bolts was 6.3 kilos, the OE exhaust was 7.1 kilos, giving a saving of only .8 of a kilo.

I have the db killers in and I wouldn't want them any louder. The main reason why I wanted them was for the looks as I don't like the OE exhaust so I'm happy.

I love these, a friend has a set on his aprilia, and after looking at OTRs web site, they are what I would like too.
Cheaper than the rest, looks very nice and why not, but, if I were to fit them on my Tnr would I still be able to fit my MetalMule pannier frames and cases?

https://www.metalmule.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.view_ima ges&product_id=281&image_id=1012&Itemid=26

Do they, like the bikes OE pipes, fit under the side or do they protrude?

Cheers

tripletom 21-08-09 10:37

Having fitted a set last night I can say that they are very slim on the bike. I need to check my pannier rails still fit, but I think they will. Can't answer for the MM stuff though, sorry.

Thanks anyway tripletom

looks like a ride to the LV UK HQ next spring to have a nose; if at all possible, can you let us all know how it all goes with the frames etc?

Cheers...

My frames wouldn't be any use to you I don't think, as I made them to fit some panniers I already had.

Banksy phone/email me when you get back. I have fitted the Leovince exhaust, I bought them while I was in Italy

mkp 04-10-09 02:56

Installed my new Leo Vince SBK.
Bought them from OTR, just 10 days from Germany to Chile.
Feel the engine less restricted and smooth. It revs higher with no vibs.
I like the new feel of the Tenere, its a way different bike.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!!!!!

Nice pics mkp. Presumably the 'new feel' of the is from not just the Leo Vince, but also the PC V? Curiously, have u noticed any significant difference fuel consumption and power delivery? I'm coming up to 20k km on my Ten, and am thinking of giving her a nice mod treat, but can't decide betn your mod or a nice set of suspensions.

rsvman 05-10-09 20:12

Hi Banksy... not sure as the price of the euro has changed since last year. You can give him a ring and see.
