K&N & DNA Stage 2 fitted.
Got them fitted last night, along with the Givi Topbox plate that fits my top box, I will no longer be wide on the right,:sad3: so filter will be a little easier.
Out with the guys for a short spin this morning, seems a bit more responsive, I still had to go to full throttle to pass the 600 Ninga:ytiller:. I can hear the intake now which I could not before I just need to try it on the commute and see how it is then.:icon_scoot[1]: |
Are You Running With A Pciii
|
all you have to do now is ...update your signature Colin :clap::clap:
|
Have you adjusted your CO fuelling to match the increase in air?
Check the modifications index if not - or run the risk of a lean burn. |
Signature updated. :glasses1:
No PC3 fitted, When I spoke to the Rolling road guy he advised trying the cans and filters first before the expence of the PC3 and Rolling road time.:blob3: The exhaust was still a bark colour when I got back home, but I remember Kev saying in another thread that you have to check this before the slow bit back to the house, so will check this when I next use it to Commute.:o I will check the Mods section for the CO settings etc before I take her out again.:icon_study: |
please pm me and let me know thanks.

I read on some of the other post that I can push the CO setting higher so will raise it by another 5 before I go home and see what difference that makes :icon_flower: Found it quieter this morning, not sure if it was the bike, the wind or I had the ear plugs in better???:icon_shaking2: It was a lot better filtering and seemed to have more and smoother pull but that may just be me riding it differently. No overhang on the right with the top box on plate instead of pannier. :hello2: Also found it easier to hold 30 and 40 in the limits, although it still creeps up in the 30's.:018::018: Not sure how high I should go with the CO setting before I need to get the Kev mod instead/as well.:Speedy_Superhero_Q3 Check the TPS it was 15 not sure what changiong this would do as it is in the "acceptable" range????:jumping0006: Need more input from the more knowledgable :signthankspin: |

The co adjustment only operates in the lower rev range - the ecu fuel map takes over in mid to high ranges and it will not know that you have increased the amount of air going into the engine so I suggest that a Kev mod at a modest price will help with all the ranges that the co does not cover. As Kev says a PCIII is the preferred option but his mod will ensure that you do not get lean burn which can give valve and piston problems through overheating. |
Colros the last thing you can do now and perhaps (as experience has shown), one of the more effective is to raise slightly your idleing speed (tickover) by turning clockwise the gold screw on the throttle body (left side - gear pedal side) and try to raise it to a figure betweeen 1450-1550 rpm.
That little turn makes a world of difference in the low revs range. |

So have dropped it by 4 and it has not stopped, and is back to what it was after I upped it by 10. I need to find the instructions for the Multimeter to see how to get it to check RPM, it has it on the dial but DOOOH I dont see how to connect it up. :toothy5: The exhaust is still black so not leaning out too much ?:blob3: Any advise on what is the best way to go from here, Not that it is a problem I can ride it as it is. I will try the upping the tickover, I can see that changing the roll on roll off a little.:glasses1: |
I would imagine the only way to go is to get a fuelling device of which you really only have 2 options - Kevs mod or a PCIII.
I fitted DNA 1&2 + Leo pipes and it was a pig to ride, the CO adjustments could not compensate for the extra airflow. Fitting a PCIII sorted it out to about 90% good with an approximate map and then a little playing has got the bike to the stage that it is smooth, quick and never cuts out. I have my tickover set at around 1300 - sounds great too. I still would like to get it custom mapped but around here it's quite expensive - quoted 300 quid at PDQ. it was 150 well spent (used from a forum member). |
There are many choices now days.

Daughter playing Clarsach at a Charity doo on Friday night, so she required the Transport man. Might fit a little ride in tonight after tea and before I take them both to hockey. Good night,
Who is better DNA OR K & N? |
Stage 1 filter, you can use K&N or DNA both are very good filters.
Stage 2 filter you can only fit a DNA filter. |
Thank you Kev.

I've not seen a DNA stage 1 but I'm guessing it's identical to the K&N? |

The stage 1 filter can be bought from DNA or K&N.:devil[1]: |
Denny there's a DNA stage 2 available on eBay at the moment if you look at the eBay watch thread you will find it.
and as Kev said for the record K&N only makes the normal filter replacement what we commonly refer to as Stage 1, DNA on the other hand are the only company that do the stage 2 one, in fact they are the ones that designed it from scratch and they hold the patent and copyright so no other company can make a copy without getting sued by them. Edit: Also there is even a better Stage 1 filter on the market made by Pipercross however the way this filter is designed, (as it is slightly wider) does not allow you to fit a stage 2 one so although its better its not worth getting it in place of a K&N or DNA stg1 because the DNA stage 2 is by far the best filter replacement and the one that gives you more wack for your buck ;) :D |
I like the new aviator Capt. :teaandcake[1]:
